Teams & Coaches
Matrix will only be offering 4 teams this year. Matrix will be consolidating it’s talent and top coaches to produce winning teams. If you feel you have the skills and heart to play on a high level team, we will see you at tryouts. There will be cuts at every level this season.
12′s (Practice Mondays & Wednesdays 6:30-8:30)
Coach: Gabriel Trovato
Assistant: Pam England
The girls and I are very excited to have Gabriel returning to the Matrix line-up. Gabriel is a fierce competitor that expects his girls to give him 100% every practice & every game. Every year Gabriel has produced performing teams. Coach Pam is a very positive influence on the girls, and always gives alot of herself to see the girls succeed. The last time that Coaches Gabriel and Pam coached a 12′s team, they were division 1, 6th place. Coach Gabriel has been with Matrix for 3 years, and we are grateful to have him for another year.
14′s (Practice Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30 to 8:30)
Coach: Brandon Sparks
Assistant Coach: Kendra Ritter
Coach Brandon did a fantastic job with our 12′s group last year. They took 5th place in the region! They were nearly undefeated until last 2 tournaments. He has coached from college level athletics to elementary. His focus is on “mechanics”, which will serve the girls well in their future career in volleyball. The team last year learned and trained very hard, and did not notice they had become very good volleyball players because they had so much fun while training. This year he is returning to take the girls to the next level. In addition, Kendra Ritter is returning to Matrix as an assistant coach for the 14′s team. She has many years of club experience, and is a very positive coach who can really inspire the players. We are very excited to see the girl’s will perform this year. We have alot of young talent returning with some new additions. Alot of the girls have been doing conditioning and training in the off season. Should be an exciting season, and I expect great things from this team!

Matrix would like to welcome back Mellisa O’Donnel as head coach after taking a break for finishing school & having a baby. Congratulations! The last time Melissa was with Matrix, her 16′s team took 6th place, Division 1. She played college volleyball at the University of Tulane as an outside hitter. She has a very aggressive attitude towards defense & offense. Melissa is a competitor and her attitude is infectious with the girls. We are lucky to have her, and am very excited for the upcoming season! Hold onto your hats girls, conditioning is also a main part of her regimen.
Matrix would again like to welcome back Matias Diaz. Matias was on of our head coaches last season, and had to take a hiatis due to obtaining his masters degree & family responsibilities. He did a fantastic job the last 2 years he was with Matrix. Matias is a very strong player and coach. Matias has played in many competitive leagues and understands the game. Matrix is very happy to have such a strong coaching staff working with the 18′s this year.
